I’m blown away by all the supportive comments from other mom/photographer/blogger fans of I ♥ Faces. You really know how to make a girl feel all warm and fuzzy inside, especially since I’ve been lost in my own head a bit lately, trying to get my photography business off the ground. I must have looked at several dozen other blogs from some amazing photographers and I have to admit, I felt a little intimidated and inadequate. Not only are they great photographers, but great bloggers as well, sharing info, tips, stories of victories and even sadness.
One particular blog really touched my heart while reading about a a very sick little boy. My son even took notice and asked me what was wrong. When I explained that the little boy was born with a bad heart and was fighting to live, he looked at me and said, “Let’s say a prayer for him, mom.” And that’s what we did. I posted on this mom’s blog, sharing the prayer that my son had recited. Later that day, thru a complete coincidence, one of my new followers on twitter had the name Stellan posted on his profile picture. I asked of the name’s significance and sure enough, it was for the same boy. My twitter account was created more for my alter ego and other passion, the Haunted Mansion, and so my twitter account has more Disney followers than photographers, as was the case with this peep. I was somewhat dumbfounded by this coincidence, and it seemed after that, Stellan’s name was popping up all over the place. You can read more about Stellan’s story here.
For whatever reason, I needed to cross Stellan’s path, if for nothing else but to be reminded to be present (not lost in my own head, as I have been waaay too much lately) with my own kids and to be very grateful for their good health. I’m going to hug them now.
Tannis hadn’t heard of Stellan’s story, so when she saw I was posting this blog, she wanted to make something for him. I told her about Stellan’s name gallery, and she thought it was the perfect idea.
Tannis decided to make a chalk drawing for Stellan….

Tannis really gets into her work….

Andrew tried to help, but the sound of chalk on the cement was like nails on chalkboard….he sat by to offer support…

Tannis coming up for some fresh air…..

…because there’s a lot of chalk dust involved in making a masterpiece!

And the finished product….a little sunshine for Stellan!

Please visit Mckmama’s blog and pass on a little love for her and her family. I’ve never met her, never read her blog before yesterday, but every now and then, we all could use a hug…
